Introduction of Brown Fused Alumina

Brown fused alumina abrasive is an important industrial abrasive, mainly used in applications such as metal processing, surface treatment and grinding.
The main component of brown corundum abrasive is aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), and its content is usually between 94% and 97%. In addition to aluminum oxide, brown corundum also contains small amounts of other elements such as iron (Fe), silicon (Si) and titanium (Ti), the presence of which affects its physical properties and color.

Main component details
Chemical composition Content range
Al₂O₃ 94% – 97%
Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.3%
SiO₂ ≤ 1.5%
TiO₂ ≤ 3.0%
Brown corundum is widely used in metal processing, surface treatment and abrasive manufacturing due to its excellent grinding performance and wide applicability

Advantages of brown corundum abrasive
High hardness: Brown corundum has a Mohs hardness of 9, second only to diamond, making it very effective in grinding and cutting processes.
High temperature resistance: Brown corundum can withstand high temperatures and is suitable for use in extreme conditions.
Chemical stability: It has good resistance to most chemicals and is not easily corroded.
Good cutting performance: The sharp edge of brown corundum enables it to provide excellent cutting results when processing metals and other materials.
Application areas
Metal processing: Used to make grinding wheels, cutting discs and other abrasives, suitable for processing metals such as steel and aluminum.
Surface treatment: Used for sandblasting, polishing and cleaning the surface of workpieces to improve surface finish.
Grinding operations: Used on various grinding machines, suitable for precision processing needs.

The following are the main applications of brown corundum abrasives in different industries:
1. Metal processing industry
Grinding and cutting: Brown fused alumina is often used to make grinding wheels, cutting discs and other abrasive tools, suitable for processing metals such as steel and aluminum
Surface treatment: Used for sandblasting and polishing of metal surfaces to improve the finish and appearance quality of workpieces
2. Building and construction
Floor treatment: Used in floor coating and sandblasting to enhance the anti-slip and wear resistance of the floor
Concrete surface treatment: Used for grinding and cleaning of concrete surfaces to improve the strength and durability of concrete
3. Aerospace and automotive industry
Parts processing: In aerospace and automotive manufacturing, it is used for grinding and polishing of high-precision parts to ensure high quality standards of parts
Turbine blade processing: Especially suitable for precision processing of complex-shaped parts such as turbine blades
4. Electronics industry
Circuit board manufacturing: Used for sandblasting of circuit boards to improve the adhesion and conductivity of the circuit board surface
Component polishing: In the production process of electronic components, it is used for polishing to ensure good electrical performance.
5. Decoration and art industry
Carving and decoration: Brown fused alumina can be used for carving and decoration of artworks, providing a delicate surface effect.
Sandblasting art: Sandblasting on materials such as glass and wood creates unique visual effects.
6. Refractory materials
Refractory material production: As an aggregate and filler for refractory materials, brown fused alumina has good high temperature resistance and is widely used in metallurgy and ceramic industries.

Production process
Brown fused alumina is usually produced by electric arc furnace method. The process involves reducing bauxite and coke at high temperature to generate aluminum oxide, which is then crushed, screened and refined to form abrasives of different particle sizes.
Environmental protection and safety
Brown fused alumina is a non-toxic and harmless material that meets the environmental protection and safety requirements of modern industry. During use, relevant safety operating procedures should be followed to reduce potential impacts on workers’ health.
In short, brown fused alumina have become an indispensable and important material in the industrial world due to their excellent physical and chemical properties, and are widely used in many fields.
